storyteller’s fellowship

a long-form literary journalism project centering around the narratives of first generation and/or low-income students at elite institutions

After proposing an independent writing project, I was chosen to take part in the Storyteller’s Fellowship at the Swearer Center, where a cohort of students under the supervision of Mary-Kim Arnold were to explore social issues through planning, drafting, and revising stories across a range of media and platforms.

Using storytelling as a platform to push for policy change at a university level, I developed my yearlong project around the narratives of first generation and/or low-income (FLi) students at elite institutions with the purpose of shedding light on the lack of resources for and awareness of FLi students in predominately privileged spaces, while also uplifting the FLi student community through connected values of strength, family, and resilience.

Due to the pandemic, work on the project has been delayed, but feel free to request my project development and revisions.
